JESUS OF JANUARY
Dove
“life goes on”
“she still speaks to me
but she doesn't use words anymore”

THE SONGS AREN’T TELLING YOU WHAT TO THINK.
THEY’RE ASKING YOU TO THINK.

JESUS OF JANUARY IS JUST A NAME.
THE STORY IS IN THE SONGS.

Jesus of January
“open your eyes”“life goes on”“everybody’s a star”

January is cold. The trees are bare, days are short, the sky is gray and the ground is hard. Things have died. Some remain!

Life carries forward with the people, memories, mistakes, love, loss and questions that remain. Let It be!

January opened his eyes.

Bare trees. Hard ground. Gray sky.

Dove slept beneath dried flowers. Zara counted green paper. Vincent was gone.

“Who am I?” Dove asked.

They found Vincent between east and west, watching moths eat money while thieves waited.

An angel appeared, flying high, flying low.

“Open your eyes.”

Vincent closed them.

Everything changed.

Dove had Zara’s memories. Zara had Vincent’s mistakes. Vincent had January’s questions. January had Dove’s heart.

Behind the veil: buried bones, hidden skeletons, love, loss, emotion, pain, fear and greed.

The thieves stole the earthly treasures.

Moths ate what remained.

Rust took the rest.

“Who am I?” Dove asked again.

“Everybody,” Vincent said.

“Wrong,” Zara said.

“Nobody.”

“Wrong again.”

The angel disappeared.

Clouds moved. Sunlight crossed January’s eyes.

Somebody dreamed. Somebody waited. Somebody danced. Somebody tried to get back home.

January went backwards.

Dove went up.

Zara went down.

Vincent went round and round.

The stars became memories.

The memories became flowers.

The flowers became dust.

Four people.

One heart.

No answers.

Something survived.

They carried it forward.
